NEW CALL FOR LATE BREAKING COVID-19 RELATED ABSTRACTS

This year for the late breaking submission the Scientific Committee only welcome abstracts related to the COVID-19. Late-breaking abstracts should highlight main results of scientific studies presenting a major relevance.
The abstracts should not have been previously published in any format. The late-breaking abstract deadline is not intended to be an extension of the regular submission deadline.

The Scientific Committee welcomes the submission of abstracts of original contributions to the Congress.
Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee and may be selected for either oral or poster presentation.
Abstracts should be submitted in English.
Please note that abstracts must be submitted through the official online abstract submission system.

All the accepted abstract will be published in a supplement issue of European Geriatric Medicine.

ABSTRACTS SUBMISSION IS NOW CLOSED

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES

Abstracts must be submitted through the official online abstract submission system.

Any Abstract can be modified by clicking on the link in the confirmation email.

No faxed or e-mailed abstract will be accepted.

Detailed information for oral or poster presentation (time allotment, date, hour) will be sent by e-mail to the registered presenting Author.

At least one Author of accepted abstracts is required to register and pay the registration fee to ensure the rights for the presentation. EuGMS is unable to support any participation cost related to submitted abstract, including but not limited to registration, travel and accommodation.

Abstract format – authors and affiliation:
– Organization should be abbreviated, with capitalization as in title.
– The submitting author must be inserted again in the list of authors if necessary.
– The submitting author is responsible also for the correct use of initials and surnames of their co-authors.
– Affiliations: all authors should have an affiliation, at least with a basic entry including the country.

Abstract format – text:
– The abstract should not exceed 250 words.
– The structure of the abstracts should include an introduction, methods, results and key conclusions.
– The title of the abstract should be printed in initial capital letters followed by lower case.
– Abbreviations should be defined by being placed in parentheses immediately after the full word or phrase has been typed for the first time.
– No graphs, figures, tables or unusual symbols can be included. – Place citations to references in square brackets, eg [1].
– If there are references after the abstract, there should also be citations to the refs in the abstract, and vice versa.
– Decimal punctuation is with a decimal point (in English), not with comma.
– Generic (nonproprietary) names should be used for drugs and substances.

BEST ABSTRACTS AWARDS
One of the EuGMS’ aims is to encourage and help early career practitioners to further their knowledge and the society bestows four Best Abstracts Awards: two for the best Oral Presentation and two for the best Poster Presentations. Each winner of the award will receive a prize of €500.

Is Athens EuGMS Congress cancelled?

No, the EuGMS Annual Congresses 2020, 2021 and 2022 will be postponed for one year, moving Athens to 11-13 October 2021, London to 2022 and Helsinki to 2023.

In 2020 the EuGMS Congress will go digital and become the key digital event in the field of geriatric medicine and health services for the ageing population. You will find wide new possibilities for multidimensional learning, innovative web tools, global audience, target topics and a fully digital exhibition area.

When will the EuGMS e-Congress 2020 take place?

The platform will open on October 7th 2020 with live-streamed sessions and on-demand contents.

Do I need to Register to participate in the EuGMS e-Congress 2020?

Yes, you must register to participate in the EuGMS e-Congress 2020.

What do I need to attend the digital conference?

To attend the digital conference, you need a good internet connection, your personal device or computer and a valid registration. The digital congress can be viewed in any browser, but we suggest to use Chrome for a better user experience.

What will be available to me as a registered participant?

You will find wide new possibilities for multidimensional learning, innovative web tools, global audience, target topics and a fully digital exhibition area. Registration to the e-Congress will allow you to access:

Is there a final scientific program?

Yes! The final scientific program will be in digital format and it will be available soon.

I submitted an abstract for consideration. What does this mean for me?

All submitted abstracts are still under evaluation. In this edition there will be a brand new abstract category entirely related to COVID-19. Submission deadlines have been extended to June 10, 2020. Notifications regarding abstract acceptance will be sent to abstract authors in July.
Aristea team will communicate further information regarding the digital platform, technical requirements and format specifications.

I am a presenter / speaker at the event, what should I do?

All invited speakers will receive information from Aristea regarding the digital platform, technical requirements and general info.

Can I download the slides from the sessions?

Yes, slides can be downloaded upon condition of agreement from the presenter.

Can I download posters?

Yes, posters can be downloaded upon condition of agreement from the author.

Will a certificate of attendance be available?

Participants will be able to download their certificates of attendance directly form the e-Congress website.

Authors of accepted abstracts who present their works at the congress will be able to download their certificates directly form the e-Congress website.

Will I receive a refund of the airfare I already purchased?

Attendees should contact their carrier directly and follow the carrier’s guidelines regarding the cancellation of flights. Attendees are responsible for any cancellation or change fees.
